What you can realistically reach: A 2-3 day accredited course gets you a novice/entry competition licence and the right to grid up in club racing - it proves you can drive safely wheel-to-wheel, read flags, and pass an on-track test. It does not make you fast or a finished racer: real race craft (qualifying pace, traffic, consistency, car setup) takes seasons of club events after the licence. Most bodies still require you to log races to upgrade from a provisional/novice permit to a full licence.

What the days are like

The room

Group — Typically 2:1 to 4:1 students per instructor on track; some legacy formula schools run small fleets with 1:1 in-car coaching.
A normal day — Long, physical days: classroom flag/safety briefings, lead-follow lapping, skid/car-control drills, then a timed on-track evaluation. US licence courses often end with a short wheel-to-wheel race against classmates.
Who comes — Any licensed road driver who is reasonably fit and over 18 (16 with consent in some US programs). No prior racing required; a track-day or HPDE intro is a common prerequisite for the licensing course.

I tell you how sure I am. Most pages here are verified by hand. A few say "still checking" — I'd rather admit that than pretend.

Before you trust any school — mine or anyone else's — ask these five things

Who actually teaches it? Can you find them by name, with a track record you can check yourself?
Is the craft alive in that place, or is the school the only thing there? A real scene has more than one good option.
What exactly do you walk away with — a recognised qualification, or a certificate they printed themselves? Ask which.
Can you speak to someone who did the course? A real person, not a testimonial on their own page.
What happens on a bad day — weather, an injury, a teacher who doesn't show? A serious place has an honest answer.
